Never Fail, My Blackberry!

This isn't really a TEM entry per se, but why am I being so melodramatic? As you may know, RIM had a serious outage earlier this month. In response, Vodafone took the wise step of hiring Neverfail to insure availability when the Blackberry network has further problems. This is great, except that I thought the Blackberry outage was because of a system failure at the single point of failure at Waterloo. I'm not sure how Neverfail can get away from routing emails through Waterloo.

To attempt some relevance to Telecom Expense, failures like these are possible opportunities for you to regain some of your expenses from your carriers or BES/BIS providers, depending on how you pay for your Blackberries. You might also want to check your contract to see what kind of compensation you're able to get when you lose mission-critical services. And if you have a TEM provider that can keep track of some or all this for you, so much the better!
